[She'd almost giggle if she wasn't in a similar state herself, though looking far more used to it. She is, however, unable to stop herself from flushing, cheeks turning a rosy pink.]

[ on the morning of christmas there's a hawk that comes a'tapping at merida's hair, pulling at the mess with her claws and doing her best to bother merida into paying attention to her. when merida finally answers the hawk and receives the package, there's a woven tassel with chinese coins, and a small slip of paper with well wishes for the season written in chinese with brush and ink. accompanying the coin is a small carved horse bound in metal and placed on a leather necklace. there's also a wrist guard that matches the one korra made for merida when they first met. ]
[ along with a couple things of mako's homemade instant ramen "i'm in the woods, desperate and hungry and i have water i can boil" emergency rations, a messenger brings merida a bone hunting knife from mako's collection, an original avatar korra work. with it is a note signed "馬高" because mako's too lazy to practice writing his name in english.

[ Delivered via a raven made entirely of quartz (how is it moving, it's maaaagic), is a simple parcel. It's been a couple weeks since their lesson together and why, Merida went through the trouble of getting her something. So in-between waiting for her artifact to decode, she crafted something for her. At first it appears to just be a simple pair of gloves, but the note attached indicates otherwise. These are a Mystic Code, a tool a magus may use with their magecraft, Rin explains. Until she's gotten better at repelling the heat with her own natural magical energy, these gloves can do that just for her. Simply withdraw energy from the Drabwurld itself in order to activate it. This will allow Merida to withstand higher levels of heat without getting burnt even if she's not magically capable of doing it just yet.

Thaumaturgy itself is a pretty understanding term as it encompasses all the learnings of the cultivation of magecraft: alchemy, astrology, kabbalah, and shinsendou. There are many other schools, of course, but these are the four that make up the foundation of magecraft itself. In accepting that you wish to pursue magical academia, you're acknowledging that you wish to the turn impossible into the possible. Many other magi devote their lives to their research, passing it down to their heir accordingly in order to eventually have their family reach the Whirl of the Root. See, magecraft started off originally as magic--true magic. A lot of that you see here in things that shouldn't be possible, yet you can see that they truly have taken place. All the different people from various worlds, those from conflicting points of time and with memories not shared with their companions. It's important that you understand these terms because I use them constantly, as do the people from my world, and it'd be terrible if a possible student of mine performed less than expected.

It can be... troublesome to accidentally conjure fire that's too hot so you need to work on protecting yourself first. Think of it as lab equipm--oh that's right. You don't know anything about labs. All right, all right. So you know how when you build a campfire you first make a ring of rocks in order to contain the flames? It's something like that only instead of sliding on a mineral glove, you're using the magical energy provided to you by the Drabwurld. Once you're adept at this, you should be able to repel and possibly manipulate fire thrown towards you. Neat huh?
As I told you before, spells that are associated with fire are consumption, entropy, fuels, heat, energy transfer, and thermodynamics. Consumption is receiving energy by consuming others. For example, when you eat a meal, it rejuvenates your body. Think of the food chain as the basis for this. Fire consumes wood and grows in strength. Fire consumes anything and infinitely grows stronger. Entropy is the natural breakdown of heat itself. You know how the flame roars to life at first, but then dies without anything to consume. So long as you create a flame like so--[ Which she demonstrates with the tip of her finger. ]--since I'm not providing it with a proper source, it'll slowly die out.

▶ Element -- Fire: How to effectively make fire grow and diminish. Nothing to a nuclear level, of course, but overall a finer control. It's likely she knows four verse incantations in order to strength flame and how to manipulate fires previously created by other natural means. An example being if she were to "snatch" flame from a campfire nearby and fling it across the area. Through Rin's teachings she can't repel fire spells made by others just yet as they are often prana infused more than actual fire itself.

[There's a small hitch in her voice when he speaks even before he says his name. The conversation with Korra has been weighing heavily on her mind for the last day, numbing her to the point where she hasn't even practiced her fire magic in the last twenty four hours. She doesn't feel like she deserves to.

[She pauses in taking care of Angus to answer her locket, unable to help looking a bit concerned. Not just at the look on his face, but the...well, she wouldn't exactly call it a plea, but it was what it was. The box also gets a look before she wipes her hand on her dress.]

[Merida looks equally disheveled, but not for the reasons Grainne is. She gives a small sigh of relief though, even as she runs her fingers through her hair, accidentally pushing some back over her shoulders and showing a familiar pair of earrings attached to her ears.]

[The locket snaps shut and no more than five minutes later Merida comes bursting into the room with a pack of four wolfhound puppies on her heels. There's a glass of water in her hands that she hands over, telling the pups to settle before turning her attention back to Grainne with a small smile.]

When she does, Merida looks disheveled, tired, a little bit older than the last time they spoke, and her hair looks considerably shorter. She shakes her head, reaching up to drag a hand down her face.]

[A package is sent by courier to Merida's cabin and arrives a week and a half AFTER Yule. It's large and wrapped carefully. Inside is one of the most finely crafted hunting bows Wan had found in the markets of the town the Barrel sat in. He'd spend a good amount of the marks he'd been gifted by Waver for his efforts during the year on it simply to make sure he was able to give her one of the best bows possible - short of it being magic.
A note is attached and it reads 'I was told that a holiday called Yule was for giving gifts to others and I wish to gift you this in thanks for your willingness to teach me how to properly use a bow.' in very neat and precise Drabbish, as though a lot of effort had been put into making sure it looked perfect and was accurate.

[The package that's delivered to Merida is small and flat, but when she opens it she'll find what appears to be a very old storybook. That's exactly what it is though. It's an old book of fairytales from Hiro's world that won't break any fourthwalls and also attached to the front is a piece of parchment. Drawn on the parchment is a picture from the joust before Merida's defeat, something to make her look regal and fierce, with the title "Braveheart" under it.
There's also a short note.
