MAJOR EVENTS
BEAST MASTER
Due to being the only one able to get close to Cu Chulainn and calm him down while in werewolf form, locals around the area of DunDealgan start to regard Merida as a beast master of sorts. Considering how she feels about his warp spasms, she doesn't exactly like this apparent appointment but if it's to protect him from any sort of torches-and-pitchforks scenario, she'll take it on. [ ✖ ]
TRUST IN BLOOD
A search through Treun for the escaped convicts of Leathann turns into a dangerous situation. In a moment of desperation, Merida accidentally kills a convict who has the intent of doing something unsavory to her. Traumatized, it's Gilgamesh of all people who pulls her through and reassures her that she did nothing wrong. The golden king, unwittingly, earns himself her trust and loyalty. [ ✖ ]
LADY LIONESS
The year had seen to a great deal of change in Merida. Not just in something deciding that her fate lay within the other court, but in herself and the actions that she took, in the thoughts that she processed. Some part of her became...less idealistic, as it were, more open to the idea that this was war. It had taken her just near a year in the Drabwurld to accept that as fact, that she'd only be seeing home in her dreams, and half a year later to find it in herself to move on. This land of the fae was her reality now. These were her people. And that was why she needed to protect them. [ ✖ ]
MAJOR CHANGES
SORCERESS
Merida has started to take her magical studies more seriously than before. By the end of the time skip, she should be appropriately trained in all the magics she has taken on, both fire and runic magic.
WARRIOR
Likewise, Merida has been honing her combat skills throughout the year. With a new sword from Diarmuid as of August and a new bow from Wan as of Yule, she'll feel as though she'll be better prepared for any of the future battles. Having killed her first human (accidentally), Merida starts accepting the idea that it's okay to kill people sometimes.

PLANS
- co-parenting wolfhound pups with Lancer
- fire magic training
- shard training
- become known as some kind of beast master by the locals
- visit the new Barrel once a month
- bandit stomping along a trade route with Korra
- swan shooting competition with Gilgamesh in April
- Treun tourney
- Samhain
- White Hart Hunt II: the Hart's Revenge
SUMMARY OF KNOWN DETAILS
For the most of it, Merida will be working on training in both her fire magic and her shard, along with learning some runes from Lancer, when she's not taking part in any of the events happening. Gaining influence in the surrounding area. Strengthening and being able to control her magic will be one of her primary focuses. She'll also be helping out around DunDealgan since she'll feel partially responsible for everyone there, considering she's courting its Lord. Many of her efforts will be going towards building up better personal relations between DunDealgan and the natives surrounding the area.
Another thing that I have planned is for her to open up a combat school for women of either court and/or natives only, offering it as a place of refuge during times of battle, and once she's lost her idealism and become a little more war hardened, offer her students out as mercenaries. This will all take time, possibly over the course of two time skips, but ideally I'd like to start planning things out now.

OCTOBER →
SAMHAIN →
1: Merida can always be found not too far from the feast tables themselves, thoroughly enjoying herself and piling plates high with food of all sorts, meats and vegetables and fruits.
2: Relaxing either on a pile of cushions or within sight of the tent that has been claimed by her and hers. Merida can be found in these times with a cloak draped over her shoulders to keep herself warm and leaning against the pups as they sleep.
3: The redness on her cheeks is a definite sign through the revels as to how much ale has been consumed, even if she does have a good handle on her movements. She's never fully inebriated, having enough sense to stop when she knows she's getting tipsy considering she's been drinking ale since she was wee.
4: But that doesn't stop her from sneaking off with people for some kind of make out. Even if she might be courting someone, Merida is, after all, a Celt. Despite her waffling over the idea last year, there have been changes as she came to terms with a few things. So be it whispers in your ear or a hand leading you off, she will, eight times out of ten, be offering kisses this year.]
4. this is late o well.
even through the ups and downs of samhain, korra's always got an eye out for her friends. and yet, she's surprised this year when she hears merida's voice in her ear and sees what the other girl is wearing.
or, more precisely, what she's not wearing. korra's not the type to blush out of embarrassment, but she can't help the way her eyes go wide — for a split second. when she smirks, it might be the wine talking, warming her skin at the proximity. ]
Did the Hound make you wear that?
now that I'm not so sleepy
I dressed myself, actually.
[From the war paints that were now a streak across her skin from sweat and other things, down to the ends of her skirt. Merida places her hands on her hips, cocking one to the right as she looks over her friend. Still, she sits down next to her, sliding down with a bit of grace, leaning back.]
What made you think he made me?
[whoo]
Seems like the kind of thing a boyfriend would want his girlfriend to wear.

[She brushes her hair over her shoulder, not back to its full volume but still a decent length than it had been all year, wisps of red gracing along her freckled skin. There's a tilt of her head in Korra's direction, looking at her own costume with a glance down before her eyes travel back up.]
no subject
You like it? I know it's like last year, but.. [ she trails off and shrugs. maybe one day merida will get to meet raava. she hopes, anyway. ]
no subject
[Not that Merida had exactly followed that rule last year, given she'd dressed herself up in a gown fit for a princess, but she hadn't had time to prepare back then. There had been careful thought and planning into her outfit this year, which is why she gestures to hers.]
I mean I'm not exactly a goddess of war an' death, but I decided to do a tribute to th' Morrigan, because of her connections to Cu.
no subject
she'll just have to try harder next year. ]
"Morrigan"? [ more importantly: war and death. this lady sounds badass. ] What's her story?
no subject
[Merida reaches up to tuck some hair behind her ear, pausing in her story to make sure that Korra is caught up. She lets that hand drop to drape across her lap, leaning against her other one as she shifts a bit closer to her friend.]
It's said that she approached Cu once an' gave him her love, but he failed to recognize her an' rejected her. She told him that she would hinder him in battle an' when he died, she settled on his shoulder in th' form of a crow.
no subject
So you... decided to dress up like someone responsible for his death?
no subject
She wasn't responsible for his death, she only oversaw it. He was killed when th' third of a set of magical spears mortally wounded him, thrown by th' son of a man he'd killed. Cu tied himself to a standin' stone in order to die on his feet, facin' his enemies.
no subject
... Woah.
no subject
What?
no subject
I didn't realize Khu was so hard-boiled.
[ DUDE'S GOT GUTS, SHE'LL GIVE HIM THAT. also one day she'll stop pronouncing his name with a decidedly not-gaelic accent. ]
no subject
[There's a teasing jab in the shoulder before she tilts her head, leaning in to press a kiss to Korra's cheek. Merida licks her lips slightly when she pulls back a bit, smile flicking across her face.]
That's for last year. I never got to thank you properly.
no subject
Thank me? For what?
[ that grin is spreading on her lips, leaning into merida just a little. ]
no subject
Rescuin' me, when those dogs were about.
[She lets Korra lean in, lets herself feel the way her stomach is coiling. The fingers that find Korra's hand trail up her arm, touch soft, not unlike a lover's.]
1/2
that warmth in her skin is starting to seep down deeper, and korra lets their bodies gently rest together for a moment as she tips her head. ]
Don't mention it...
[ and she leans in, wrapping her other arm around merida's waist to hold her close— ]
no subject
I—wait. Would Khu be okay with this?
no subject
He slept around with plenty of women while he was married in his first life. If he isn't, he'd be a hypocrite.
[She lets her fingers curl around Korra's, tilting her head.]
Besides, that's if I tell him.
no subject
still, her words give korra some measure of pause, and she narrows her eyes slightly. ]
It might be better if you do. I've had bad experiences kissing people who are taken.
no subject
I won't.
[It was Samhain. She'd selfishly let herself have this one night to experience something else.]
1/2
so she lets her eyes close as her head tips down more earnestly into the other girl's hand; korra's lips brush against her palm. ]
