MAJOR EVENTS
BEAST MASTER
Due to being the only one able to get close to Cu Chulainn and calm him down while in werewolf form, locals around the area of DunDealgan start to regard Merida as a beast master of sorts. Considering how she feels about his warp spasms, she doesn't exactly like this apparent appointment but if it's to protect him from any sort of torches-and-pitchforks scenario, she'll take it on. [ ✖ ]
TRUST IN BLOOD
A search through Treun for the escaped convicts of Leathann turns into a dangerous situation. In a moment of desperation, Merida accidentally kills a convict who has the intent of doing something unsavory to her. Traumatized, it's Gilgamesh of all people who pulls her through and reassures her that she did nothing wrong. The golden king, unwittingly, earns himself her trust and loyalty. [ ✖ ]
LADY LIONESS
The year had seen to a great deal of change in Merida. Not just in something deciding that her fate lay within the other court, but in herself and the actions that she took, in the thoughts that she processed. Some part of her became...less idealistic, as it were, more open to the idea that this was war. It had taken her just near a year in the Drabwurld to accept that as fact, that she'd only be seeing home in her dreams, and half a year later to find it in herself to move on. This land of the fae was her reality now. These were her people. And that was why she needed to protect them. [ ✖ ]
MAJOR CHANGES
SORCERESS
Merida has started to take her magical studies more seriously than before. By the end of the time skip, she should be appropriately trained in all the magics she has taken on, both fire and runic magic.
WARRIOR
Likewise, Merida has been honing her combat skills throughout the year. With a new sword from Diarmuid as of August and a new bow from Wan as of Yule, she'll feel as though she'll be better prepared for any of the future battles. Having killed her first human (accidentally), Merida starts accepting the idea that it's okay to kill people sometimes.

PLANS
- co-parenting wolfhound pups with Lancer
- fire magic training
- shard training
- become known as some kind of beast master by the locals
- visit the new Barrel once a month
- bandit stomping along a trade route with Korra
- swan shooting competition with Gilgamesh in April
- Treun tourney
- Samhain
- White Hart Hunt II: the Hart's Revenge
SUMMARY OF KNOWN DETAILS
For the most of it, Merida will be working on training in both her fire magic and her shard, along with learning some runes from Lancer, when she's not taking part in any of the events happening. Gaining influence in the surrounding area. Strengthening and being able to control her magic will be one of her primary focuses. She'll also be helping out around DunDealgan since she'll feel partially responsible for everyone there, considering she's courting its Lord. Many of her efforts will be going towards building up better personal relations between DunDealgan and the natives surrounding the area.
Another thing that I have planned is for her to open up a combat school for women of either court and/or natives only, offering it as a place of refuge during times of battle, and once she's lost her idealism and become a little more war hardened, offer her students out as mercenaries. This will all take time, possibly over the course of two time skips, but ideally I'd like to start planning things out now.

JULY →
After 'that night'
Despite how barbaric it was, he simply stared at that sight awhile until the shardbearers were cut down from their nooses and carried away. There was no reason for him to leap into action or intervene, but of all things, he couldn't have said he would remain calm, either way. With a bristle in his bones, Lancer turned to leave the square. His hair, as he left the square, began burning red.
None of them were known to him and that much was good, but that didn't mean it wouldn't be the case in the future. He tried to form the tracking rune in his hand, but his magic burst and couldn't properly form. His anger was getting in the way. His breathing hitched further up and as Lancer stopped in one of the streets, he realized he had tried to write the rune ten or twelve times to no success.
It wasn't helping his stress.]

Sometimes she found herself thanking the gods that it hadn't been anyone she knew but at the same time she was also grateful that it hadn't been them. There had been so many ways last night could have gone wrong now that she thought about it, and the hostility of the townspeople of Daonna was a little more "real" given the fact. Her spine chilled with the looks at her back, the scar on her cheek stinging. She was defenseless, save for her magic, and the very real possibility that she might have to use it if she didn't get out of here anytime soon was shocking to her system.
Something caught her gaze out the corner of her eye and she glanced, noticing him. An honest swell of relief filled her, before it disappeared when she noticed the change to his hair. No. Not here. Pulling her cloak hood off, Merida tried not to jostle people as she pushed her way through the dissipating crowd, calling out to him.]
Cu!
no subject
He would have to force himself to activate that ring if he ended up attacking anyone.
Merida's voice barely pulled him out of the fog--literally, at that point. A red fog had risen up from the dirt and between the gaps of cobble-stones beneath his feet, rising up like a misty spray of blood. As his eyes registered her, the mist began to lessen and lessen to the point of vanishing and Lancer was left with a dull-eyed gaze as he regarded Merida, as if waking up from a short nap.]
Princess. What're you doing here?
no subject
I was out with Korra an' th' others last night. I just left Diarmuid.
[That's really all she says right now, reaching up to cup her hands over his cheeks, thumbs brushing over the height. Her touch is gentle, soothing, as much as she can make it so right now even with her thoughts on the hangings. Letting him know she was okay and had been in the company of others was her priority right now, keeping him calm.
Her hands leave his cheeks, travel down his neck and rest on his shoulders, glancing him over to make sure. If he transformed, she wasn't sure she could keep him or the Daonna natives from doing anything.]
no subject
Preventing himself from doing damage was a given. Peoples' lives wouldn't be in danger with his trump cards, but it said nothing to what would happen to him in the end. Lancer sighed through his nostrils, leaving those concerns to Merida. He was too exhausted to think about it even after that little brush with anger.]
The others?
[He paused, looking over his shoulder to the square.] Is everyone alright?
no subject
[Never mind the new scar on her cheek. When she's sure that he's as calm as he's going to get, Merida lets her hands drop along his arms, sliding down to take hold of his own. Her shoulders relax, though she'd keep hold of those concerns of hers until they're outside of town, back home. That's the only time she'd let herself relax from everything that's happened in the last twenty four hours.
There's no point in worrying about it now when he's the one who has her focus. Her fingers squeeze around his, ignoring the looks they're getting from natives. There's no point in inciting more violence. Narrowly avoiding that was something she didn't want to dwell on, not knowing what it would've been like if she had caught him deep in that mode.]
I saw Korra an' Mako out of th' city an' Alice is with Diarmuid.
no subject
Merida's neck was free of a rope and that was what he found the most important.
Moreover, she looked to be sane despite the tragedy. Merida, who took her investments with others rather strongly, looked to be balanced while he was far from it. He gave her just a touch of a smile in return. Cu Chulainn would stay calm for the moment.]
Did you rough them up, Princess?
no subject
[The look on her face is sheepish enough for now, let alone mentioning something like that. She feels sheepish enough about it to raise a hand and scratch the back of her neck, lips quirking a bit. It wasn't anything she felt sorry over, not when the whole thing had started because someone had thought it appropriate to not take no for an answer, but she did miss her bow's presence.
The way she looked on the outside was a betrayal of what she was feeling inside, how anxious she felt when she spotted someone looking at them out the corner of her eye. It wasn't anxiety so much as it was fear; just a bit of fear that flicks across her face and in her eyes. The gnawing of her teeth over her bottom lip. Her fingers tug at his hand, wanting to draw him towards the gates and leave this town.]
Anyway, what're you doin' here?
no subject
Mmmmm. [He reached up to his brow to pluck some hair from his eyes.]
I heard there was a problem, here. If there was any fighting going down, I would have intervened.
[That was to say--his response time was exceptional. He found out and traveled there in under five hours.]
no subject
I don't think there was anythin' anyone could've done.
[They'd had to physically restrain Korra from doing something to cause more of a scene after all. The thought pained Merida too, but they'd already had them up on the platform by the time they got the idea of what the general commotion was about.]
no subject
I'm sure there was plenty, but--nothin' ought to make you blame yourself.
[He leaned into the kiss, hungrier than he thought. He was starved for attention, if only because so much energy had been stored in him in such a short time. Merida's presence wasn't just a necessity at that point. He wanted her there with him for more than a few reasons.]
no subject
She lifts her other hand to travel over his shoulder, draping there to hold on as she pulls her head back for breath, chest rising and falling. There's so much relief flowing through her right now, even as she licks her bottom lip and kisses him again, tongue flicking to lick his mouth.]
no subject
As she kissed him, he became absolutely certain of that fact. It wasn't the time or place, but he couldn't argue with that sense of affection. It was the border between heaven and hell, that place. Only a few dozen leagues south, one would find home. In Daonna, there was corpses. It was the wrong place to kiss, but it didn't bother him beyond that first second. Lancer kissed Merida, allowing himself to push everything back down where it belonged. Once again, he would just bottle it up and shove it aside.
This, he thought was fine. He looked at Merida once more with the same smile he always put on, because he thought that was what he was just supposed to do--be as happy as one could be at every moment he could manage. He lived with the mentality, after all, that he could die tomorrow.
no subject
The smile makes her reach to graze her thumb against his mouth, returning it with her own. There was something about it that made her sad, wishing they were home right now so she could just sit near him and do something with her hands rather than stand around being stared at and whispered about by people passing by. She tilts her head, nudging his chin with her nose.]
You're goin' to break my heart smilin' like that.
[She let her hand drop, coming to pause against his chest as she let her eyes flutter shut with a small sigh, resting her forehead there after. Merida pulled away after a second, tugging on his hand.]
Let's go home. I can't appreciate you here.
no subject
We will.
[They would walk--not rush. Lancer had no interest in pulling people into their spirit by surprising them with magic or a quick dash. So far as he knew, Merida's presence would keep him calm and his presence would make Merida happy. That was what he needed.]
No need for Angus, though. We could use a walk.
no subject
Walking was good. It was a nice day, despite the goings on, which seemed strange to Merida as she looked at he sky. A blue sky like that managed to cover the fact that something terrible had happened, she marveled, even as she looks at him with a small smile and a roll of his eyes.]
Fine, but I still need to take him back home. I'm not leavin' him out here any longer than I have.
[Angus was her only friend before she came to the Drabwurld. She wouldn't leave him behind like that.]
no subject
He reached up to pull off his hood and tilted his head so his hair would flow out just a little more.]
Aye, just means he'll have to understand he won't be gettin' as much attention. I'm liable to be a bit greedy for the moment.
no subject
Ach, he'll understand. Just means I have to spend more time with him later is all.
[That gets her a nudge in the back of her head, making her giggle as she kept her hand on Lancer's arm, her other around her horse's reins.]
no subject
Ah.
[He stopped walking, at that, frowning and reaching into his clothing for something.]
Wait a sec'. I've got to cancel something.
[He suddenly remembered calling for the eagle--namely, with a command that was pretty serious, despite that calm moment they forced. Lancer thought he'd need a little support if things got rough in the city, so the suggestion 'you can kill' was easily taken in by the beast.]
no subject
Cancel somethin'?
[She shares a look with Angus who whinnies and nudges for the treat pouch at her hip. She lets go of Lancer's hand for a moment, letting him do what he needs to do while she fetches a piece of root vegetable from it. Angus snuffs it out of her hand in a couple of bites, sniffing her fingers which raise to rub along his nose.]
no subject
Yeah. I thought the situation would be a little more dangerous, initially. So--I readied something, just in case.
[Up overhead, the eagle's screeching was heard. It swooped through the street once before rapidly ascending once more. In a short moment, it was gone as quickly as it had appeared.
Lancer realized he should have done that much sooner. Admittedly, the nervous twitch in his eyebrow spoke wonders at just how close a call that was.]
Jeez.
no subject
At least he listened?
[As far as she knew, the eagle was still a bit testy when it came to listening. Merida waited until she knew for sure that he was good to continue their path home before starting to walk again, keeping the pace steady.]
no subject
When he thought of something, it was sudden and absolutely unannounced.]
He steals whiskey, you know.
no subject
[It's a light hearted tease, her own fingers grazing over his knuckles as she nudges his side a little, Angus' reins in her other hand as he clip cloped along behind them. She didn't mind the quiet much, letting herself enjoy his presence even with him so close to anger, knowing what that was like. After a bit she leaned against him some more, starting to feel like Daonna had never happened.]
